I rented these films from the library. Hellboy 2019 which is a reboot. Based on the comics. Starring David Arbour, Ian McShane, Milla Jovovich, Daniel Dae Kim. More horror orientated. Some humour. You may have seen the previous films from a decade ago. Some of the CGI needed work. Unsure of the faux English accents. Interesting story. Like the way the story was being narrated. Good soundtrack. An immortal witch wants to set a plague upon the human race. King Arthur and his knights were there to put a stop to her plans. Hellboy is going on missions. He must prevent these pieces of the witch being found. He is trying to discover his place in the world. Good action pieces. 

I also watched Pet Sematary which is based on the novel by Stephen King. Good acting for on the cast especially the girl playing Ellie. I wasn't sure what to expect. A family from Boston have moved to Ludlow. There is this cemetery near the house. It is for animals. A large forest which adds to the spookiness. The husband is a doctor. There is a neighbour that has lived in the town all his life. There is an area called I assume, The Barrier. Restless spirits roam. Things come back from the dead. I like the opening and  closing credits songs. You may have seen Winchester, The New Daughter, It Comes At Night, Evil Dead. Very graphic.

Shazam! Starring Zachary Levi, Mark Strong. Origin story of the character known as Captain Marvel in the comics. A DC film. It references other Justice League members. Young Billy Batson had been from foster home to home. You get introduced to Dr Sivani the villain. There is the wizard named Shazam that has been searching for a champion. Good special effects. John Glover, Djimon Honsou have been in other comic book adaptations. Great cast of actors. If you like Big, Spider-Man: Homecoming then this is for you.

Us

US is a film by Jordan Peele. Cert 15. Horror. Lupita Nyong'o, Winston Duke, Elizabeth Moss, Tim Heidecker. There are bonus features. The soundtrack is interesting. You get a scene from 1989. A young girl wanders off on a beach and goes into this haunted house ride. She is in for a shock. Present day. A young family are on vacation. They are back in Santa Cruz. Spending time with their neighbours. One night the family encounter their doppelgangers. There are scenes where characters dilly dally about. It is original. Has it's scares. I liked Get Out. Two of the cast were in Black BTPanther. There is a twist along the way. Props to all the cast as they play two versions of the characters. There are trivia and discussions. It is worth watching again. You may have seen Insidious, The Strangers, The Purge, Sinister, The Happening, Signs, The Sixth Sense. Lupita looks pretty as do the twin
. Especially the one in the bikini. Some may be asking questions.

If you like Blade Runner, RoboCop, Terminator, Humans, Elysium, The Mortal Engines, Hunger Games, Divergent then you should see this. Spectacular effects. Many will fall in love with Alita. Those eyes are beautiful. A local doctor has been looking for spare parts. He often helps amputees with modifications. He stumbles upon a female body. He begins to fix her. She is trying to figure out who she is and the what city is like. Set in the 26th century. There was a major battle and much of the Earth has changed. A city floats in the sky. A sporting competition is held. Good cast of actors. Nice soundtrack. A strong female character. I am sure that I saw a reference to Terminator in one scene. Great fight scenes. I like how Alita is around certain people. There are bonus features. I have watched this film twice. Find yourself someone that looks at you the way Alita looks at Hugo.

Cold Pursuit

Thriller starring Liam Neeson. It does contain dark humour. If you like The Equalizer, John Wick, Fargo, Very Bad Things, Seven Psychopaths, Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction then this is for you. Stand out performances from Neeson and Tom Bateman. A young man named Dante had got involved with some very bad people. Nels Coxman's son Kyle is murdered. Nels wants revenge. These police officers are about. A Native American gang have crossed paths with Viking and his men. His ex-wife is hot. The music is interesting. Also the way a character's death is acknowledged. Around the time of the press interviews Neeson made some controversial comments. Laura Dern, Tom Jackson also star. There are Extras. I enjoyed Unknown, Non Stop, The Commuter and so thought of watching this film.




 Aquaman

Directed by James Wan. Who has done a fair few horror films. Jason Mamoa is Arthur Curry. Amber Heard reprises her role as Mera. Patrick Wilson stars as one of the villains. He was in a few Blumhouse films as well as Watchmen. Nicole Kidman plays Arthur's mum. She was in Batman Forever. Willem Dafoe had also been in Spider-Man. The scientist featured on a TV show, the actor that plays him was in the Ant-Man films. Great how they tell the story. A lonely lightkeeper and Atlantian meet. Good fight scenes and visual effects. The current king wants to wage war on the surface dwellers. Aquaman has been asked to stop him. There are a group of pirates. The Black Manta is a member. He is after Arthur. The soundtrack is varied. Atlantis like the Amazonians and Wakandans live independently. Learning of the types of kingdoms there are. Atlantis is technologically advanced.

I recommend that you see this show. I am watching it now.

Set 200 years before Superman was born. Follow the events and lives of the people of Krypton. Seg-El is the protagonist. Zod and Braniac actors are superb.

I am looking forward to The Flash.

On The Basis Of Sex is a biopic based on a true story. Following Ruth Bader Ginsburg from her days at Harvard onwards. Felicity Jones plays Ruth. Her husband Martin is played by Armie Hammer. Dealing with a sexist society. Things may have got easier but there are still problems women have to face today. I have placed the Amazon ads of things you might like. I highly recommend them. At home they have baby Jane. Martin is ill. Ruth has a lot to deal with. She won't be put off so easily. Great acting from the cast. This film about strong women will trigger the fragile males. I usually look at trivia and some reviews or discussions. Shutout to costume, hair, makeup and props department. Their son James is introduced later on. Good dialogue that people will remember. The soundtrack is varied. These Conservatives, anti feminists, incels could learn something. Look up Clara and Paul Spera. The Constitution written all those years ago is unjust. You have to avoid the clichés. Can't read the white subtitles on the light background. Love the touch at the end. Nice end credits song.
