The Darkest Minds. Cert 12. Sci-fi from the makers of Stranger Things and Arrival. If you like The Hunger Games, Divergent, Chronicle, X-Men, Maze Runner, Midnight Special, The Girl With All The Gifts, The Giver, Percy Jackson, Ready Player One, Tomorrowland, Kin, The Goonies, ET, A Wrinkle In Time, Tomorrow When The War Began, The Quiet Hour, The 5th Wave then this is the film for you. Good soundtrack. Talented cast of actors. A mysterious virus takes hold of America. Kills most of the children. I assume that it grants the surviving ones special powers. The protagonist Ruby is a young black girl. Her powers make her parents lose all memory of her. She like most of the special kids are sent to the camps. She is now a teenager and a few shades lighter. She will meet others like her on her travels. She has Jedi powers. I expected some romance which is off putting. Liam is more like Magneto with his gifts. Zoom can harness electricity. Think Electro. Charles is super intelligent. You have a couple from The League. Also the soldiers from the camps are on the hunt. There is talk of a camp where the gifted can reside. Cool special effects. Mild swearing. Some violence. Amanda Stenberg, Mandy Moore, Gwendoline Christie, Harris Dickinson, Skylan Brooks, Miya Cech, Lidya Jewett. See IMDb for trivia and Amazon for reviews. Special features are included. The actor Patrick Gibson playing the President's son reminds me of Michael J Fox. It is worth checking out.

This is a Spike Lee joint. You may have seen Malcolm X, 12 Years A Slave, The Birth Of A Nation, Free State Of Jones, The Butler, Hidden Figures, Selma, Long Walk To Freedom, Barry, Detroit, Bamboozled, Blazing Saddles.
Spectacular film that will trigger the MAGA asshats. John David Washington son of Denzel who was in Malcolm X. Adam Driver, Topher Grace and many more great actors. Good editing, direction, writing and cinematography. Many funny scenes. Good soundtrack. Coarse language. Ron Stallworth joins the Colorado PD. He is sent to investigate the Black Panthers. He does meet a variety of characters. He decides to ring up the terrorist organization called the KKK. His colleague Phil would pose as Ron when meeting the Klan. Ron lives a dual life. You want him to succeed. Wary that he could be caught out at any minute. There was a line about finding a man like David Duke running for President. Well that happened in 2016. The actor that plays the drunk bearded guy talking about bombs. He was one highlight. There is a dedication to Heather Heyer. I recommend this film. It is up for an Oscar. There has never been, is not and never will be white supremacy. Black lives matter, All you fascists are bound to lose, I'm with Kap, take a knee. See IDMB to see the trivia and filmography.
