The Curse Of La Llorona is a horror film from the makers of The Conjuring. Cert 15. I rented this from the library. Lovely bit of singing at the beginning. Beginning in Mexico. A woman is with her two songs. Jump to America in 1973. A woman is a social worker. She is widowed with two kids. She visits a client. There is a problem. Some things seem predictable and clichéd. Anyhow good effects and acting. An evil spirit is murdering children. There is a priest that family seeks help from. You may have seen Mama, The Woman In Black, Insidious, The Conjuring. Linda Cardellini played Velma in the Scooby Door films. She shares the same birthday as me. I knew that I recognised Patricia from somewhere. She was in The Mummy movies with Brandon Fraser. Annabelle gets a mention.

STAN & OLLIE
Steve Coogan and John C Reilly star in this biopic about Laurel and Hardy. Plenty of humour. Some scenes play like their skits. Most biographical films have an origin story. This takes place when they have already reached the top. Great casting. The Manager is a scene stealer. Coogan and Reilly got the mannerisms right. Chaplin and Wisdom get a mention. The two are on tour throughout the UK. A Robin Hood movie is being planned. Please see the ads for the recommendations.

 THE SISTERS BROTHERS
Joaquin Phoenix, John C Reilly, Jake Gyllenhaal, Riz Ahmed. Cert 15 Western. Eli and Charlie are assassins/bounty hunters. They go on various missions. Set in Oregon 1851. Follow them on their journey. You might also like The Homesman, Shanghai Noon. John Morris has been writing down what he has been up to. His accent is a mix of American and English. Kermit Warm is taking part in the gold rush. The brothers are coming to track him down. The Commodore is the boss. Interesting scenery. Some humour. Need to turn the volume up to listen to some of the dialogue. Riz and Jake starred together in Nightcrawler. Universal Pictures. Good acting, scenery and costume. Based on the novel by Patrick DeWitt. Trouble is always up ahead. Must look at the back story and trivia. Check out the new Joker movie.

IN FABRIC
A Curzon Artificial Eye production. British indie horror. A retail store in Thames Valley is the setting. A red dress that gets passed around from owner to owner, it us cursed. The look and sound of the film is unique. Quite retro. Cavern Of Anti-Matter provide the soundtrack. You have a middle aged black woman named Sheila. She lives with her son Vince. His girlfriend Gwen is abit of a bitch. Various other characters are featured. I remember watching the Tom Hiddleston film High Rise. You might recognise the actors. I will look at the IMDb Trivia page. Peter Strickland is the man behind this film. It follows on from previous films. The sales assistant is mysterious. There is humour. I copied the cast info from a site. A surreal film. The scene with the mannequin was weird. Great actors. The two managers Clive and Stash are funny. Reg is a man on a stag do. See the review by Mark Kermode. Cert 15.

I rented these films from the library. Hellboy 2019 which is a reboot. Based on the comics. Starring David Arbour, Ian McShane, Milla Jovovich, Daniel Dae Kim. More horror orientated. Some humour. You may have seen the previous films from a decade ago. Some of the CGI needed work. Unsure of the faux English accents. Interesting story. Like the way the story was being narrated. Good soundtrack. An immortal witch wants to set a plague upon the human race. King Arthur and his knights were there to put a stop to her plans. Hellboy is going on missions. He must prevent these pieces of the witch being found. He is trying to discover his place in the world. Good action pieces.

I also watched Pet Sematary which is based on the novel by Stephen King. Good acting for on the cast especially the girl playing Ellie. I wasn't sure what to expect. A family from Boston have moved to Ludlow. There is this cemetery near the house. It is for animals. A large forest which adds to the spookiness. The husband is a doctor. There is a neighbour that has lived in the town all his life. There is an area called I assume, The Barrier. Restless spirits roam. Things come back from the dead. I like the opening and  closing credits songs. You may have seen Winchester, The New Daughter, It Comes At Night, Evil Dead. Very graphic.

Shazam! Starring Zachary Levi, Mark Strong. Origin story of the character known as Captain Marvel in the comics. A DC film. It references other Justice League members. Young Billy Batson had been from foster home to home. You get introduced to Dr Sivani the villain. There is the wizard named Shazam that has been searching for a champion. Good special effects. John Glover, Djimon Honsou have been in other comic book adaptations. Great cast of actors. If you like Big, Spider-Man: Homecoming then this is for you.
